(1) Note that this page covers the family of Fullarton of Fullarton in Perthshire. The Fullartons of Fullarton in Ayrshire are covered by Fullarton1. We hope to find the earlier generations of this family in due course.
(2) TSP reports that "The ancient family of Fullarton of that Ilk is believed to be descended from Galfridus de Foullertoun and Agnes his wife, on whom King REobert I conferred the lands of Fullarton and the hereditary office of King's Fowler within the shire of Forfar. Having parted with their original lands and acquired others on the border of Perthshire, they transferred the name and had their new possessions erected into the barony of Fullarton."

This resolution has been generally regarded as erroneous". TCP (vol XII/I) contains an appendix (E) which refers to this matter.
