m1. (c1335) Margaret de Ros (dau of William de Ros of Youlton and South Holme)

1. Sir Thomas de Musgrave of Hartley Castle, Sheriff of Cumberland (b by 1337, dvp 1384/by 1372)
  (1) This Thomas was not called to Parliament and so, according to the traditions of the day, was not a 'Lord'.
(2) A contributor (TG, 16.09.04) reports that the History of Parliament biography of Sir Thomas (died 1409 ?) gives his first wife as Mary (d by 08.1380, dau of Alan Strother) rather than Mary Vaux.

This generation is mentioned by BP1934 and the Musgrave web site but not by TCP. Visitation (Yorkshire, 1584/5) shows just one generation between the Sir Thomas who married Elizabeth Fitzwilliam and the Sir Richard who married Elizabeth Betham but shows the intervening generation as a Sir Thomas who married Alice, dau of Richard, Earl of Cambridge, by Maud, dau of Thomas, Lord Clifford, which appears to be a spurious connection.
