  Vivian, in his article on the Worth family in his work on the Visitations of Devon, identifies Ralph de Paynell, Sheriff of York, as father of the following 3 sons but does not mention any of the above. Various web sites insert another generation, showing the following as son of Ralph, son of Sheriff Ralph. We show the connection made by Vivian to make it clear that we have seen it but we recommend that it be viewed with caution.

  Some web sites name Ralph's wife as a Ferrers, some naming her as Felice and some showing her as a daughter of Robert Ferrers, 1st Earl of Derby. 'Early Yorkshire Chapters' reports that, whilst it is possible that she was a Ferrers, it is also possible that her family was merely a tenant of a Ferrers and that there is no evidence to support a direct connection to an Earl of Derby.

Some sites show this William as husband of Julian de Bampton rather than his son.That is supported by Visitation (J.L. Vivian (1895), Devon, 1531+1564+1620+additions, 'Cogan of Baunton', p212), which starts with this William, which shidentifiesows her as Johanna, dau of Robert de Dowa(y) of Braunton son of Walter, with Fulco's wife being Alice, sister/coheir of Gilbert de Abrincis.
