Families covered: Letwood of Lancashire, Serocold of Cherry Hinton (Cherryhinton), Sorocole of Lancashire

This family provides an interesting example of how a family name would probably have become extinct had it not been entailed so that it descended with heiresses. Although "Serocold" appears to be the modern spelling, it seems that earlier versions included Sorocole, Sorrocolle & Sarocole.

1. Thomas Sorocole or Serocold of London (a 1559, d c04.1640)
Crisp & BLG1952 report that Thomas received the Freedom of the City of London in 1559. We presume that he would have had to have passed his 21st birthday for that so that would indicate that he was born before 1538. It appears that either he lived over 100 years or a generation is missing.
